| Field Trips Summer 2010 Each summer a number of field trips are organised to show people a particular area of Cumbria at a time when there should be good numbers of the target butterflies in good condition. Dress for the occasion. If the weather is kind, summer clothing is fine but do come prepared for wind and cloudy conditions with suitable clothing. Stout shoes are often a good idea. A packed lunch and a drink will be required. The day usually finishes around 1530 but there is no compulsion to stay but we do ask you to tell your leader that you are leaving early. Some of the ground can be rough. Ticks can be a nuisance and we advise you to examine yourself for signs at the end of the day or next day particularly if you have an itch. The tick can be removed by using good quality flat ended tweezers to pull the tick slowly and carefully from the skin. Close focusing binoculars are helpful.
