Butterfly Habitat in Cumbria

Stretching from the Irish Sea coastal dunes in the west to the high Pennine moorlands and limestone hills in the east, and from the Solway coast and mosses in the north to the limestone woodlands around Morecambe bay in the south Cumbria is full of fantastic habitat for butterflies and other wildlife.

Click on the Habitat Links on the left of this page for information on the 5 major habitat types where butterflies can be found and also which species you are likely to see plus some history and management notes.
