Cumbria Butterfly and Day-Flying Moth Sightings: Dark Tussock
There have been significant changes to the restrictions brought in to reduce the spread of coronavirus. It is now possible for butterfly and moth recording to resume for people who are not shielding or self-isolating. Recorders must, at all times, continue to observe social distancing guidelines. If you have coronavirus symptoms, or if you or any of your household are self-isolating, you should stay at home. Although travel restrictions within the UK have now been lifted, local restrictions may be in place as a response to coronavirus outbreaks. Please check for and comply with any local restrictions when planning or undertaking recording activities. More information can be found on the Butterfly Conservation website.
Sightings Display Markers View Help
The markers view displays the sightings data on a map where the location of each sighting is highlighted with a marker.
A particular marker can be clicked on with the mouse to display information on that sighting. The location of each marker appears randomly within the precision of the associated grid reference; this ensures that sightings at exactly the same location can be differentiated on the map.
The current region displayed by the map can be changed by dragging the display map in different directions. The size of the region displayed can be modified by clicking the plus and minus zoom buttons in the top left of the map. In addition, the zoom level of the map can be increased by left clicking with the mouse on an area of the map that is free of markers and the zoom level of the map can be decreased by right clicking. The map can be switched between normal and satellite display modes by clicking the buttons in the top right of the map.
The current display area of the map can be automatically fitted to the active sightings data by clicking the Fit button on the map. In addition, the map can be restored to its default settings by clicking the Reset button on the map.
Other views for displaying sightings data can be selected by choosing a value from the View drop-down menu and clicking the Update button.
