Overview
A small to medium sized silvery blue butterfly with two annual broods. It is usually seen fluttering around in Holly trees.
Where to look
The butterfly is found in Woodland clearings, churchyards and hedgerows where Holly is growing. Although the distribution is widespread in Cumbria it is not commonly seen other than in the south of the county.
When to look
The first brood is seen from late April through May, the much smaller second brood peaks in mid to late August.
